Cionn Caslach or Kincasslagh lies to the south-west of The Rosses and inland to the east of the island of Arranmore. It is the home of the singer Daniel O’Donnell. The area is very rugged, with lovely thatched cottages, magnificent coastal scenery and many beaches. Just off the coast is Cruit Island, which is a European-designated “Special Area of Conservation” and joined to the mainland by a bridge. There is a golf course, angling (offshore and deep sea) and bathing. It is here that you get the real smell of Donegal turf, which is burnt in all the local houses. There are many peaceful walks, spectacular red sunsets, wild flowers, birds and many friendly people.
