Fantastic stay at Mias cottage

Just home from a fantastic stay at Mias cottage. The cottage was very cosy and warm even when the storms blew in. It is in a nice, not to remote area of Donegal, close to many beautifull beaches. The owner John had the fire roaring for us on arrival and every thing you could possibly need is in the cottage .We just couldn’t believe how nice this place is. We cant wait to visit this area of Donegal again and without hesitation would stay in mias cottage.

Home from home

This was our third time in Mia’s Cottage and hopefully we will be back for another long holiday. We love it there. It’s our second home. Delores and John are generous hosts and make us really welcome.

Stunning Cottage

We stayed here for our honeymoon and absolutely loved every minute of it… The cottage is so cosy an it had everything we needed… John was very helpful with the local hotspots till visit.. Will definitely be back again

Beautiful place with beautiful people

What can I say I have not said already this is such a beautiful cottage to stay my only regret stay there was that I had to leave to go back to work. It was only a 5 day visit and there is so much to see the coast line is breath taking the waters are so blue and the beaches of the finest sand….really enjoyed the Famine village just down the road for the life of me I cannot remember the fellas name who took us round but if you go there he used to live there as a child and you’ll never believe when running water came to them shocked me! We also visited the Titanic museum in Belfast in my eyes the £25 for the tour is over rated but the boat and museum free walk round with cable car thing is interesting but really only if its torrential rain.

The Rusty Nail well worth a visit friendly pub great food that not too expensive would have loved to spend more time there but with The Gallway Hooker you pay with a little hangover in the morning. If I remember right they have music local Irish music on a Sunday would have loved to have gone to that but there for to shorter time. While we were there we certainly had four seasons in one day everyday but it never stopped us enjoying the area so if you visit the area get out and enjoy it the people could not be friendlier. Now then the owners we never had the pleasure of meeting Dolores but we did meet John who could not have done more for us heating on fire lit cottage all cosy I will be back God willing

Warm cosy peaceful cottage with all amenities of modern day living

Excellent stay, well placed for North Donegal. Cottage rebuilt at location about five years ago with modern yet traditional design. With a combination of oil and multi fuel burner you can keep yourself warm and cosy. Oil and electricity is charged but peat and wood is provided so you can develop your skills at peat burning although very easy with the multi burner and dry wood. Peat brickettes burn much easier which you can buy locally, these burn with more heat which kicks in the back boiler and the central heating without oil burning. The end bedroom faced by the chimney breast keeps the warmest over night. It’s June and it was still cold outside so joined the locals in fire burning to keep warm.

Your hosts will tell you what to do with the ashes, go in a bin outside. Clear that whoever designed the decor liked red which is my favourite colour, doors, curtains, seats, cups etc. Kitchen well equipped with all gadgets. WiFi provided by Bluebox microwave dish as in these parts provided 20 up and 20 down so you are not cut off from the outside world. Did moderate down at busy times of the day to ADSL speeds. Always best to keep a GSM option if you travel and Internet connection is important. The Rusty Nail pub is walkable but probably best to drive and take turns at drinking with a bottle of wine back in cottage plus nibbles for return. Food good at the Rusty Nail and also the golf course restaurant open to visitors or use the cottages kitchen. Very comfortable stay. Location is on Google maps.
