The Sea House in Toberkeen was love at first sight: its magical views over the bay with forever changing landscape colours and its cosy comfortable tasteful and beautifully arranged interior ticked absolutely all our boxes. The fresh scones on arrival, the warm welcome and the turf fire for the colder evenings were added treats that made our stay even more authentic. There is nothing we would change and nothing we missed (not even the sunshine!) during our stay with our family of 4 at the sea house. In fact, we loved it so much we returned two year running and can’t wait to come again. We could recommend it to anyone in search of beauty, tranquility, authenticity, taste and confort.
Customer reviews of The Sea House Dungloe
The Sea House, in Toberkeen, Dungloe, is a perfect cottage hideaway with all modern conveniences. On arrival we were greeted with home baked scones and fresh flowers. There is a spacious kitchen dining area and two comfortable living rooms separate from the bedrooms and washroom area. The view of Arranmore and the sea is breath-taking, and as the cottage faces west we experienced magical sunsets every evening. The silence was lovely. A local hare was a visitor in the mornings and nice birds flitted in the garden. The neighbours were friendly and Dungloe itself was vibrant with the annual Mary from Dungloe Festival. We’ll be back.
We had a very pleasant time in The Sea House. You arranged the house in a way that just everything was there. We felt like living in a design-house and we enjoyed the wonderful views. We had one day with rain from the beginning of the morning till the end of the evening; no problem, from behind the large window in the living room we watched the seals and the changing tide. I must confess that we were happy that during the other days we had sunshine too so we could go out. Too bad we only could stay 6 days! Oh, and let me not forget to say that Sharon was a wonderful hostess.
My two children and I stayed at The Sea House in early June and found it simply the best self-catering cottage we have ever stayed in. It has been carefully restored to provide exquisite accommodation in a stunning position overlooking Aran Island and the Atlantic. The surrounding area is also rich in wildlife such as seals and otters. I shall look forward to returning in the future.
Stayed at The Sea House at Dungloe for 5 nights. Wish we had longer.
Such a comfortable, beautiful cottage surrounded by fantastic views of the sea and countryside. Lots of picturesque walks right on your doorstep and the most amazing neighbouring beaches.
Slept really well in this well equipped family cottage. Had a lovely welcome from Sharon even though we were late arriving – thank you for the scones, tea & coffee!
We will most definitely be back.
The Sea House is a delightful, welcoming, warm cottage with all you need for a stay in beautiful Donegal. The view from the picture window across the bay constantly changes with the tides and weather. It was all we were expecting and more.
Hello Natasha – We had a perfect time and came home well relaxed, although had to leave a day early as ferry was cancelled because of a storm, and we had to reschedule.
The house was perfect and I loved your design touches – the colours, the curtains and the crockery – everything really! It was such a pleasure to go out and come back to the place, to look out at the tide going in and out and the sunsets.
We would love to hear about your other place when its finished could you let us know?
We have had holiday rentals for years in the West of Ireland, but have to say that this house and the friendliness of the people was outstanding. A perfect house for relaxing and unwinding, with the best taste in interior design and a well equipped kitchen. Everything spotlessly clean and bright but cosy even on a rainy day. Thank you for the lovely welcome and we hope to visit again soon.
Sorry, it took me longer to write the review as I thought… not the writing, but taking the time to do so…
I tried to explain, that this was the best cottage ever and you’ve done a fantastic work. We do hope, we can return. Maybe not next year, but for sure, we want to return.
Please send our greetings also to Sharon. We wish you both a lot of energy for all your great work, and of course also for your life 🙂
We stayed unfortunately only 7 nights at this fantastic home. We’ve seen pictures of it before, but when we got there, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the location and also the setting. Natasha has furnished the whole house with so much love to the last details, it just looked like in a magazine for My Perfect Home. Still, we felt at home right away and even with our three children (3, 8, 9), we never felt like they are not allowed to touch anything, like one feels sometimes when you stay at a perfect styled place. We just felt like at home!
The kitchen provides everything needed to cook whatever you want to, the living room is cosy as it can be, the view out of the window just incredible, the bedrooms are lovely furnished.
The children loved to go down to the beach, climbing on the rocks, looking for some oyster shells, and went almost crazy when they saw the seals out in the sea:)
Last but not least: Sharon made as feel comfortabel at once. She waited for us in Dungloe, showed us the way to the cottage, she made us feel very welcomed although we were late.
On the table, there were fresh flowers, scones with chocolate and homemade jam, just ready to sit down and enjoy a late cup of tea with delicious scones. Couldn‘t think of a better arrival in a new place, after driving all the way from Dublin with three children in the car:)
We do wish we could have stayed longer, and if possible somehow, we‘ll return for sure! – Maiken Graf and family
We stayed at The Sea House for 6 nights and wished we had more!
We were met by Sharon who couldn’t do enough for us, giving us lots of useful information on the local area and welcoming us with homemade scones and flowers.
The house is stunning, beautiful views of the bay and view point to look out for seals and watch the oyster men catching oysters. Thank you Natasha for the privilege of staying at the Sea House.
Our top places were Maghery beach, The Strand Bar Maghery (very friendly local pub with the added addition of donkeys across from them that kept our 6 year old amused), Music Festival in Dungloe.
Look forward to going back soon!
We stayed at the Sea House in July with our two young children. We received a warm welcome which included fresh flowers around the cottage, two baskets full of turf for the open fires and homemade scones! The Sea House is finished to an extremely high standard with lots of attention to detail.
Because good weather on Irish holidays is never guaranteed we like to have a really nice indoor space to hang out in if needs be and the Sea Cottage was perfect for lazy days. There is lots to do in the surrounding areas including Glenveagh National Park, Fintown Railway, Ards Forest Park and a boat trip to nearby Arranmore Island.
In Dungloe itself there were lots of places to experience traditional Irish music which we really enjoyed. This is a very beautiful holiday cottage which I would have no problem recommending.
