Gracie’s Cottage

Gracie’s is a humble 150-year-old Irish cottage and, though greatly cared for, shows its age in some places. Expect to find some loving wear, quaint ageing and lots of quirk and character. With limited wifi and mobile coverage, Gracie’s is a great location to disconnect from the stress of modern life, and explore the Wild Atlantic Way, the Causeway Coast and the Inishowen Peninsula which offers some breathtaking scenery and stunning beaches, the nearest of which is only a 20 min walk away.

An awesome calm and private place

An awesome calm and private place to stay close to Mother Nature, in the midst of farms and some amazing dairy cows! The house was well kept, tidy and John (the host) had made all arrangements for us, including setting up the range fire. We as a group of two couples, loved the place to unwind, relax and detox.

Splendid location, with beautiful views

Splendid location, with beautiful views. It’s great to experience total silence and total darkness during night. John provided a guidebook, that helped us explore the Wild Atlantic Route. This is one of the rarest reasons of mine to be lost completely into the nature. Had all immediate needs to stay, would recommend anyone going there to enjoy the serenity. My kids loved to play outdoors – there was plenty of space for them. Loads of wonderful roads to drive and explore. Thanks John.

We had such a lovely restful and cosy stay

We had such a lovely restful and cosy stay. The Bedrooms were lovely with countryside views and the beds were really comfortable, we had great sleeps. The bay is only a few minute’s drive away and the scenery is beautiful. We would definitely return. Thank you John

Even in the heatwave, the cottage is fairly cool

Really enjoyed our stay. The main bedroom is comfortable (there were only two of us so we didn’t use the other one). Good shower. Even in the heatwave, the cottage is fairly cool so we put on the fire one night.. Out front is a great suntrap for breakfast. John’s three recommendations for restaurants are spot on and the three local beaches he recommends are great.

We had a really enjoyable week at Grace’s Cottage

We had a really enjoyable week at Grace’s Cottage which coincided with warm sunny weather which made all the difference. It was an excellent location just to chill out with the only sounds being the odd mooing of a cow, bleating of a sheep, tweeting of a bird or a buzz of a bee by the flowers. The mobile signal was poor which added to our enjoyment as our phones weren’t going ping every few minutes. The cottage was clean and comfortable and at 150 years old was full of character. The directions to the cottage were spot on provided your sums were right in converting kilometres to miles whilst the location was within easy reach of a number of beaches. John left plenty of leaflets detailing points of interest within easy reach. We enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in recommending the cottage for a quiet stay just to get away from it all.

The cottage was full of charm with brilliant views

We are just back after a fantastic week staying at Gracie’s Cottage. The Place was spotless when we arrived and John was a brilliant host. The cottage was full of charm with brilliant views and we enjoyed a week of being switched off. Local beaches are fabulous and we loved our visit to wild Donegal – just incredible. We also got to walk with alpacas and highly recommend a trip for the craic. A trip to Nancy’s barn for the world-famous chowder is a must! John Had pointed out all these attractions and more in his brilliant guidebook – it was very helpful. Thanks again for a great stay.

We had a really enjoyable week at John’s house

We had a really enjoyable week at John’s house. It’s well placed to explore Inishowen and much of the Donegal section of The Wild Atlantic Way. Scenery is beautiful and the house is just 10 minutes drive from a great sandy beach called Culdaff. We had just one small question for John while we were there and he responded immediately, Very comfortable house.
